Added to the MTTC portfolio in 2003, calibration of equipment is executed through the MECS (Measuring Equipment Calibration Services) division of MTTC
MECS endeavours to fulfil calibration requirements in the following fields.
Force
Mass
Temperature
Dimensional
Mass and Force calibrations are executed on site for equipment such as presses (CBR and concrete) and balances. Due to the controlled environments required for Temperature and Dimensional calibrations, equipment such as thermometers and measuring tapes are calibrated at the MECS facilities.
The equipment used by MECS is traceable through the national calibration system to the internationally recognised units of measurements and standards. The quality systems are being developed to meet the requirements of SABS ISO/IEC 17025.
